History of Halloween

the celtic Irish tribes believed that there is a day in the year where the season of life meets the season of death and that day was the end of summer 31st of Oct., the priests where customs to scare the evil spirits and make bonfire as well.
The Pob in his attempt in the eight century to get red of this tradition announced that a day to red all the evil spirit is the 1st of November and called it All Hallow day. people added to it and called it All hallow eve and the name started to be Halloween sense then.
During the potato famine in 19th century when most Irish farmers immigrated to USA the Halloween started to be popular.
people believe that by giving candy and sweets to people they will prey to them so they do not have bad souls and spirits.

Hello Abdullah

Thanks for writing about Halloween.

The POPE had a lot of power, it seems, back in the EIGHTH century. Do you know what/who the POPE is?

Did you listen to the video I put on the class blog? What do you think of this festival? Do you have similar festivals in Kuwait?
